2007 4.0 chrysler pacifica, battery 3 months old, checked battery, alt, starter, all ckecked out good, sometimes starts fine sometimes you just get a click and nothing happens, no start, installed a new ground from battery to engine block and still no start. what could be intermitten?

I'm I getting this right... sometimes you get crank and start and sometimes you get no crank (click sound) and no start.

Going on the assumption that engine always starts when the starter cranks, it sounds like a starter solenoid or relay going out.

Next time you have the no crank, use your test light and probe the positive battery cable where it attaches to the starter. The light should light. If it does not, check the cable connections for corrosion. The cable could have an open somewhere as well. If you have power to the main cable at the starter, with someone helping you, have them try to crank the engine while you probe the smaller red positive wire to the solenoid. If it does not light, check the starter relay for power. If it lights, touch the starter housing with the test light. If it lights, the solenoid is bad.

Gently tap the solenoid, sometimes its enough to make it work to get you home...

Being wrong doesn't bother me, it's being right and not understanding why that does
