2008 Ford E150 4.8L V8 4R75E Trans -247,500 miles - SHUTTING DOWN
Driving along and transmission seems to go into Neutral , engine throttle will rev up and down then rengages tranny and dies.Was at dealer from April til November 2019. Replaced ECM, Throttle body, Mass Airflow Sensor. No changes. Codes: P061B, P1000, P1233, P2105, P2107, U0121, U0300. Normally can switch key off, back on , start and continue on til unit dies. Have a new engine wiring harness about to try. Dealer supposedly cleaned and checked all grounds. HELP !

These are bad about coils in the early stages of failure that will backfeed voltage to the PCM and cause weird issues like this. I have had multiple cases of this after other shops threw PCM's at it and then gave up. The tricky thing is that it happens before the coil completely fails, so many times you won't have misfire codes. I use my scope w/ inductive pickup attachment to find them pretty quickly on Fords. Also check mode 6 and look at "$53" to see if any cylinders stand out
I would also double check the harness for the throttle near the EGR tube - they rub and short there. Haven't had the trans disengagement associated with this, but worth checking.

Installed new engine main wiring harness. Let sit overnight. Started engine ran about 30 seconds, then shut off. Repeated, same result. Started again and ran fine for trip of 30 miles, then shut off. Pulled to side of road, restarted, went to pull off and died again. Trip back home took forever. Might run 1 mile before shutting down, or 10 miles. Current codes: P1489, P060A, U0300, P2105. HEAD MECHANIC AT FORD DEALERSHIP IN FORSYTH SAID HE WAS UNABLE TO PROGRAM PCM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS. Is the only place to get the PCM programmed a Ford dealership ?
