P0977 is an open circuit code... high resistance, you may have a short to ground or bad shift solenoid.

i have 0.2 volts at solenoid wire with key off when i turn key on the voltage goes to zero and when i unplug the ecm and check the the pin for the solenoid in question it has 0.2 volts which makes me suspect a failed ecm?

if your getting a code and some signal, I would not go out and buy an ECM just yet. Consider, if a short or other wiring problem caused the ECM to fail and you do not fix that first you will short out that new ECM. The price of a solenoid is way less than an ECM. If the code appeared and nothing catastrophic occurred to the car, then why would the ECM fail.

With the ECM disconnected was the zero volt reading at that pin with the key on or off? Is that pin supposed to be the power source?

could not come up the a diagram to post.

I do not think that pin gets energized until the engine speed and throttle position are reported to the trans control module... the P0758 occurs when the solenoid is energized and the valve is stuck in the off position.

when the ecm is disconnected the voltage goes to zero and when you cycle the key on voltage goes to zero as well . i load tested the circuit it showed a good circuit . i checked ecm grounds and the checked out good as well . i then reattached the connectors and cleared codes and now the code will not come back. I also did a solenoid test with the scanner and it showed half an amp draw and cycled on and off the solenoid . with the code gone i road tested the vehicle again and the transmssion is not operating normally . i have a feeling the code is being set by and internal problem with the transmisson.
