Heater Core Replacement - 1994 Chevrolet Suburban C1500 5.7L
Heater core leaking pretty badly. Alumaseal held the proverbial finger in the dike last season, but no go this time around. For the time being I have disconnected the heater core from the heater hoses. For some reason, my wife does not hot radiator fluid leaking onto her feet. Nether does she like going without heat now that it is getting cold. I am trying to figure out how hard this job is. AlldataDIY and Haynes say the whole heater case needs to come out, which does look like a nasty, multistep job.
But there are some guys on youtube who seem to show that all I need to do is disconnect the heater core from the hoses under the hood, and remove seven screws holding ion the access panel under the dash, remove a retainer holding the actual heater core in, and old core slides out and new one can be put in. Apparently a much easier job than the written instructions I have seen. My truck does look very similar to the ones on youtube where the job looks easy.
Any of you guys who might have done a heater core on a 94 Suburban or similar truck, any advice from experience would be greatly appreciated!
