2005 Ford Taurus Wrong Oil? was created by popoften
Hey Guys -- Well, my son put 10w30 oil in his car for an oil change because that is what the Haynes Guide advised. I just happened to notice that the oil cap on the valve cover says 5W20. Will he have to drain out this 10W30 now or can he just run with it till the next oil change and put in the correct 5W20 at that time? ~ Pop

Eh, I dunno, I might run it the way it is? That generation of Duratec doesn't have VVT, and isn't known for mechanical issues.

On the other hand, Motorcraft 5W20 is usually available in five gallon jugs at Slow'Reilly's. :silly:

I think I will tell him to just run it the way it is for now. Thanks!
