Rodents ate through (2) wires in my truck, an 07 Ranger 2.3 XL. I repaired them. They were in Connector 312 (C312) according to AllData, wires 2 and 4. How do I figure out what device(s) were using these wires? In the site, I can find the wiring diagrams when I know the function, but how do I go backwards?

I don't have ALLDATA but I'd imagine you'd search for the circuit name CLS36 (YEL) and CAT09 (GREEN). I just flipped through several bitmap inline connector views as these images weren't searchable and found they go to the trailer tow connector and right rear park/stop/turn lamp connector.

No worries! You have proven yourself a worthy opponent. Nice job.

I appreciate the time you guys put in on this one, it helps me a good bit. Thank You.
Unfortunately, the search in AllData doesn't yield any information on those circuit ids. Perhaps it was a mistake to go with AD, what service do you recommend/use?

I use both Alldata and ShopkeyPro (Mitchell on Demand).
I prefer Alldata for most things.

My first search was for C312. This brought up the connector view and Pin-out chart.
The pin-out chart told me what circuits are on Pins 2 & 4.
Then I searched for CLS36. In the "Related Information" section, I clicked "Electrical (OE),
which brought up the diagram.
Searching for CAT09 was fruitless, but since the other wire was dealing with external lighting, I started browsing the light diagrams, until I found it.

Alldata has really improved their format. I used to prefer ShopKey (Mitchell), still do for SOME things. They both went through a major update. Alldata nailed it! Mitchell, in my opinion, is harder to navigate, now. It used to be the other way around.

But it seems like I'm the only one at the shop that coax the information out like you do Chad!
You are, probably, the only one at your shop that has invested the TIME into using it, as we have.

Chad - Interesting. Thank You. This seems to be a difference between AllData and AllDataDIY. The search in DIY does not return valuable information with those keywords.
