What can make a cluster module wake up thats not network related? In other words, I got a car that keeps dying overnight. Drains the battery stone dead, and it random. So far I've got it narrowed down to: it's not the network doing it, all the communication that happens is an effect, not a cause. I believe it's the module in the cluster, but something inside the cluster will come on and draw about a half an amp.
So back to the question, is there something in any of the circuits after the cluster that can make the cluster module come on and go off randomly? I say cluster module because none of the gauges or lights come on, it is definitely a module. It is not the cluster itself, Tried that already and blew that call, it's not the cluster that's causing this problem. I know this is a difficult question to answer, sorry guys, just fishing here because I'm stuck. I plan on going through every component on the cluster diagram and disconnecting them to see if that finds it, but I don't have the car back yet. I just know I didn't fix it because we got another call from the customer telling us so.
I wish I could ship this car to Danner. Would LOVE to watch a case study on this one. Unfortunately, that's not possible.
what you could do is unplug the connector at the cluster and just hook up the com wires and power/grounds. with all accessories eliminated but youd need a terminal kit from aes wave. or use an amp clamp around each wire of the cluster conector. and the wire that has current flow is the issue. i dont know what tools you have though
