1994 Ford Escort Cosworth cutting out

The vehicle hasn't cut out on me yet but that's what it is in for. The radio speakers are also crackling. Sometimes pressing
the brakes also brings on the air con compressor.
The customers description includes "main engine harness plug has been replaced previously", "Fuse box was replaced with a used fuse box"
"Car occasionally dies while driving RPM drops to zero" "Static comes through stereo and 'surge type' noise"
Airbag light comes on with ignition, goes off again then a few seconds later comes on and remains solid.
I'm busy pulling out the instrument cluster to have a look behind there - the radio and airbag problems suggest the fault could possibly
be inside the vehicle.

Thanks, not 100% sure what engine it is - in an hour I'll be back at work and will have a good look.

This fixed the problem with the voltmeter not working. The white and black plugs can go either way around.
They had fitted them wrong. The airbag light still comes back on though :(
