Low reading on airmass sensor was created by spit64
A general question what if I have poor performance and a low reading on airmass sensor 4 volt and having trouble finding the problem except low voltage on airmass meter on a snap, how can I be sure that the problem is the airmass meter sensor.
It could also be a problem with false air that is hard to find. You would not be in the situation where you buy a new air mass meter and it is not the problem.
Hope you understand what I asking.

I think I get what you're asking - Assuming a vehicle with low power, and a low MAF reading on a snap, what tests are needed to call the MAF?

Pirate air is definitely one thing to check for. I find having a smoke machine around is very handy for this, or a good visual inspection if not. I've been fooled by torn intake boots that open up with the engine under load ;)

Overall engine breathing is another thing to check for, especially a restricted exhaust. That'll absolutely cause low MAF readings, BUT the difference is that you'll have plenty of fuel during a WOT 1st gear run. A backpressure test would answer this question, or a vacuum gauge during a snap throttle.

This is the WOT test I'm referring to:

A restricted intake is possible but not common, i.e. an air filter collapsed into the intake tube. A vacuum gauge on the intake during a WOT run would identify this, or just a good visual on the intake tract.

Does that help at all? Or am I way off?
