2008 Pontiac Torrent 3.4L U code 0101.. Tech 2 has no comm with TCM
Ok the whole network is not down were getting somewhere we just need a little better direction let's start by verifying power and grounds to the tcm I believe you should not see more than .1 mv on ground idonothave Mitchell so if you can put that up it would help I believe the tranny needs inputs from engine i.e. map ect load calculations etc
Quick observation I made is that I have 2 sets of GMLAN Data lines coming into connector I am assumin 1 in and 1 out. Across 1 pair I show 133 Ohms and across the other I show 120
YOU CAN MEASURE CAN BUS RESISTANCE AT DLC I BELIEVE THAT MIGHT GIVE YOU DIRECTION IF IT IS A MODULE PROBLEM BUT LETS TALK ABOUT THAT INTERMITENT ISSUE ALSO IF YOU CAN PUT UP MITCHELL DIAGRAM I GOT SOME WAY MORE EXPERIENCED GUYS GETTING READY TO CHIME IN HUAAHH LOVE THIS STUFF
I did figure that out... at DLC with TCM connectedf I got the proper 60 Ohms, it was reading as an open with TCN disconnected ..... but I am away from car at the moment. I fear I bent a pin on TCM plugging it in and ran to get an inspection mirror
well we are getting to the limit of my knowledge I guess first think I would do is try to look at a schematic and see what is what but did you mention the AWD is cutting out or something scoping the can lines might be in order to see if you have good can lines one thing I would also look at is the topology of the network what is connected to what
use a test light not just a multi meter front probing. that doesnt load test the powers/grounds. you really dont have to test the can lines any further. you already did prove you had no opens with the tcm connected. if the powers/grounds light a test light put a tcm in it. itll need programmed
Ok thank you.. Just to clarify since I do have the proper 60 ohms at dlc that rules out sata lines and you are saying if test light lights on tcm power and grounds at connector than that pinpoints TCM? And also is it really possible to have a bad TCM with no shift issues. That is what makes me worry about swapping the TCM.
seems like checking any and or all driver functions its hard for me to be conclusive I have to know why the tcm doesn't work or what part seems like a driver or something speaking to AWD function those two thing tells me to check those signsl I know some have a lot of experience but if I don't understand why it needs to be replaced I become disturbed there has to be a reason a signal a voltage out of range a bad ground etc
