Nissan BSI Indicator Procedure?

    I feel like I've lost braincells trying to wrap my head around this.

2021 Nissan Rogue SL 4WD (*With automatic drive positioner)
RH BSI indicator (in the mirror) inop. 
DTC: U1B46:15

I've attached  of the DTC diag procedure from alldata along with a screenshot of the wiring diagram.

Procedure #3 : I must be missing something because the wire in question is isolated with D106 and B462 disconnected. there literally no way it can have continuity to ground.  

this is from alldata but Im purchasing nissan techinfo tomorrow to see if alldata missed something. 


I have pinpointed the cause of the DTC, i removed the mirror assy and plugged it in so i can manipulate it . Turned on ignition and the rh bsm indicator stays on but is lightly flickering.I wiggle tested the wile harness and even the wires inside he mirror going to the led contacts with no change. . however when i simply turn over or shake the entire assy. the light turns off and bsm works. I'm gonna see if we have the old one to  verify the assembly is bad. 

this vehicle is a collision repair and was tboned on the RH side. The mirror in question is a brand new OEM replacenent  

I can see the confusion here. For 107 pin 12 is ground and for 106 pin 9 is ground. This is where Scanner Danner says "use the trouble tree as a guide".
Forget the instructions and just think about what they have you testing. First, is any wire stuck at power? No? Keep looking.
Next, does the ground circuit have continuity to ground? Yes? Keep looking.
You can take it a step further and load test the ground circuit with a test light connected to power. If you have an LED handy, you can determine the polarity and jump it into the circuit and see if the code clears.

Thats pretty much what I ended up doing. I usually dont jump from the fault tree. Most of the jobs i get are insurance claims and more often than not they will dispute a diag sublet. Without proper documentation i have no argument so I give them the oe procedure with everything i did documented with evidence it claim related It always gets approved. Its a longer process but they pay for the hours so im not complaining. Its the the other way around if its a regular customer. I get so few Ill always work with them to get what they want done. Sometimes I lose on those, but it's nice to be able to help people out.

I get that. I recently jumped ship to a diag focused shop, but the real money maker (so far) is in ADAS. We have a fleet of mobile vans servicing body shops and, more recently a repair shop with an alignment bay to do Audi, Porsche and VW ADAS in house.
Like I said, and learned from Paul Danner, use the trouble tree as a guide. Then when you need to write the saga for the insurance company, you can frame it within the the factory diagnostic test plan as well, regardless of how you actually got there.

Definitely, when my wife and I started our company ADAS is all we did for the first year and a half. Once i saw a diag would be needed I would tell the shop to sublet it out. We do all the calibrations for 6 shops so they are pretty constant. We would take a hit starting a diag. A year ago we hired a cal tech, that gave us breathing room and I could pick up the diags we were letting go.

I had my "ah ha" moment earlier this year rewiring my car and its actually been enjoyable to do diags since. I just came across Paul's content over the weekend and i'm honestly excited to see what I'll learn.
