hi, i bought a 2019 traverse that had already had aftermarket cats on it getting the p0420 and p0430 codes they already have the sparkplug foulers in the down stream 02 sensors is there any other methods of getting the check engine light out ? or do i need to put factory cats on ? . thanks for your time
OEM parts is going to be the fix on this one. I have had limited success with Cataran brand aftermarket cats. Many times when new aftermarket cats don't fix a cat code, in my experience it has been because the vendor sold us 50 state federal emissions standard converters, and almost every car sold in Massachusetts adheres to California emissions standards.
That has been my experience working for other independent repair shops, my current employer only uses OEM parts for everything and we don't have parts related comebacks.
So, you can keep rolling the dice with aftermarket parts and maybe eventually keep the light out, but OEM will do it right the first time.
I will say that I have seen exactly one Chevy traverse with a cat code that was set for an exhaust leak after the flange, so make sure the exhaust is sealed up well before going too deep.
thanks for your comment I bought this car at auction i'm a used car dealer the excust is sealed and even has 3 eom 02 sensors in it i was pretty sure that needed oem just wanted to ask to see if someone new a way to get the light out. Thanks again
