2007 Lexus RX350 persistent code P0365 was created by mdeese89
Greetings and thank you for any help you can provide in advance. I am working on a 07 RX350 that has a code P0365 that I cannot figure out what is wrong. The customer has done extensive work to this car before bringing it into the shop I work at for the same issue. He has previously replaced all but 1 of the cam sensors, all the coils and plugs, plus other things that I am unaware of. Upon pulling codes, the only code is P0365 (camshaft position sensor "B" circuit Bank 1). Given that this has been a persistent issue for the customer, I decided to follow the OE diagnostic chart and probed the signal wires at the PCM with my scope to look for a wave pattern. Given that there was no wave pattern I spoke to my boss about pulling the intake as bank 1 sensor sits under the intake. After getting approval, I pulled the intake and hooked up to the wires directly at the sensor, but before the crimps where the customer had previously replaced the pigtail. Still no pattern. Checked for 5v at the 3rd wire like the OE process said to, and I had 5v. Sensor seemed ok, but looked like it might be an Amazon special, so we decided to replace the sensor with a known quality brand. After replacing the sensor, I unhooked all the coils so I could crank the engine without it starting and I had a beautiful pattern...problem solved, or so I thought. Put everything back together and cleared codes. After running for less than min. the code came back. Probed the PCM and I had no pattern again. Preemptively we ordered a new sensor, and I pulled the intake again. Pulled the sensor and double-checked wiring which all seemed ok. While waiting for new sensor I pulled the valve cover to check the wheel the sensor is watching to make sure we didn't have an issue with the camshaft. All seemed ok. Put new sensor in and put everything back together. No signal from the new sensor. No one at the shop has an explanation for what is going on. If there is any advice on where to go or what to look at it would be appreciated.

Have you checked for ground faults on the circuit? Have you done any other basic electrical diag work other than what you’ve detailed? I just had an issue I am still dealing with on an rx330 it’s o2sensor related but no was initially caused by grounds finally cleared the main 2 codes after cleaning them and reinstalling. Grounds are supper important when dealing with the powertrain control/ engine control system.
The cam sensor signal May be getting swamped by the coil firing pulses coupling into the signal wire through induction, a shared ground, or a compromised shield/return path. I would consider that
