Hello, everyone,

I'm having my butt kicked by my boss' Cayenne 1st Gen, V6 4.5s; every 7/10 times the car will refuse to hand the key back to you.

Jokes aside, with KOEO, you can select any gear you want, and switch the ignition off. The car will obvioudly refuse to give the key bck. HOWEVER, moving the selector switch to park results in the same problem. Sometimes, even if you switch on the ignition and move nothing, the car will act the same. A warning message prompting you to choose PARK shows up.

Searching the internet, it's a VERY common problem, but with no solutions for the Cayenne.

I am simply out of ideas. It's very hard to get Porsche diagrams here in Europe, for some reason. I've tried a few different legitimate workshop sources, to no avail.

Which is why I'm begging for somebody to upload anything from Mitchell pertaining to the ignition lock/Kessy module (I suspect it's that module that sens a command to the ignition lock), and the selector switch/tranny.

Also, the ONLY fault code that appears (may be relevant) is in the Kessy DTC 230, something about a park position switch. Could anybody check in Alldata if there is anything relevant to that code? Nothing on this side of the pond has any info on that dtc.

But that's the case, it's NOT like in the Touareg where people change out the selector assembly and call it a fix. The Cayenne has only one little microswitch in the selector assembly and I've bypassed it and have confirmed it has nothing to do with that fault code.

Super Mario Diag has a few good videos on the Cayenne; I've checked under the driver carpet, it's soaked there, but without a diagram I can't even confirm if there is any wire of interest going there.

The parts cannon has been fired, unfortunately, I had suspected the sensor on the gearbox to be failing but it's not. I even removed the shifter cable (thinking it might be tensioning the sensor at the gearbox - no change.

Funny thing is, is when I remove the selector switch module (under the gear stick) the car will ALWAYS give the key back!! Always, without exception. Yet, I have no idea why. Obviously a new module solved nothing (I was desperate). I have confirmed the car does NOT look through that module to find position of the transmission. With that module removed, it still shows the correct gear placement on the instrument cluster.

Which is why I really need a diagram of the whole system pertaining to the car recognising PARK and issuing a command to give key back.

I think I just have to go step by step and verify signals at each component (when the system works and when it doesn't) to see what goes missing.

Thank you so much!
