Help us help you. By posting the year, make, model and engine near the beginning of your help request, followed by the symptoms (no start, high idle, misfire etc.) Along with any prevalent Diagnostic Trouble Codes, aka DTCs, other forum members will be able to help you get to a solution more quickly and easily!
Those symptoms usually point to a rotating mechanical part ie. water pump, alternator , power steering pump or belt idler pulley.
My first move would be check the power steering fluid level, after that it is really a case of check each of the engine auxiliaries individually remembering to take great care when working around rotating pulleys, fans and belts. Use a proper engineers stephoscope or where possible just hold the shaft of a hammer or screwdriver firmly to the body of the part as an improvised stethoscope.
