High long term fuel trims, poor fuel economy was created by julietsierratango
2004 Toyota rav 4. 2.4l 4 cyl. Automatic transmission. 4wd. New to me. 351,000km. Fuel economy was noticeably poor getting 400km or less to a 50l tank when I should get 500km. Only other symptom is mayyyybe a slightly long crank. Maybe.
Changed plugs (iridium off brand) air filter, transmission fluid and filter. Changed valve cover gasket.  Used brake cleaner to check for vacuum leaks but did not smoke it - no leaks found. No real change in fuel economy. I have 2 3h all highway drives every week to compare changes. There was an intermittent evap code but purge valve works and I got a new gas cap.  I got a cat efficiency low code 1 time but it hasn’t come back after changing plugs etc. I have been trying fuel injector cleaner in the last 3 tanks.
When watching live data the only thing strange I notice is that on cruise control the car likes to go into open mode for significant periods, and there isn’t really a difference between open mode at 4.7% ltft and closed mode 14.7% ltft on the downstream 02 sensor.
Can the problem be found or do I need more specific testing. Thanks!
I can also post spreadsheet logs of scanner data if needed
