i HAVE A 2000 FORD ESCORT SE 2.0 ENGINE AND A CODE PO715 SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT THERE IS A SENSOR ON THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION RIGHT IN THE CENTER. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THAT IS THE SPEED SENSOR BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY SENSORS ARE ON THE TRANS MISSION .THANK YOU -JOHN

Try Googling an image of the sensor and source a wiring diagram.

Hey John! Just curious, any luck on your P0340.

pole71 was awesome and posted sensor locations in your P0340 thread, and it happens to have the VSS location on there, too. "On lower rear of transaxle." Seems like the sensor you found on top of the transaxle might be the turbine speed sensor, instead.

Wiring diagram says the VSS has white/black and blue wires:

P0715 refers to the input/turbine shaft speed sensor. 2 wire sensor. Red wire and White wire.
