1994 Chevrolet Suburban C1500 Heater Core leaking

5.7 liter engine, has dual air conditioning but front heat only. Heater core is visibly leaking coolant into engine bay near hose connection and also into passenger compartment. Mitchell says dash has to come out to replace this thing. But other sources say remove five bolts from the bottom holding the heater core shield and that is all the access needed.

Do any of you guys know for sure what the correct procedure is? I don’t want to get into this and thenfind myself in over my head.
