Any ideas here? 1992 toyota dolphin, basically the v6 3.0 pickup motor but on a cab and chassis motor home. I've got an amp clamp on the pos wire to starter and channel 2 on injector #6. The amp clamp is 1mv=1A. I tested compression on #6 and #1 (easiest to get to) both 120 psi. The complaint is lack of power. I test drove it and really didn't seem all that bad. I doesn't feel/sound like there's a dead miss. The fuel filter is new.
I checked the timing, it's at 35 deg btdc, service lit says to jump terms Te1 and E1, I did, no change. Turned dist all the way retarded and got about 10 deg btdc engine runs worse. Really I'd like to know if anyone has an idea about this relative compression test. Thanks.

I've only used the relative compression test a handful of times. But from what I understand, you want to compare each of the humps to the others. Judging by your test, all cylinders look comparable to the others. If it's a lack of power misfire, have you ruled out a bad cat? I diagnosed one of those today so I may still have that on my mind. Forgive me :)

Hello,

Are you able to retrieve any OBD1 scan data, such as Block Learn and integrator values?
Those numbers at idle, 1500, 3000 rpm could be useful.

The base timing spec is 10 deg. BTDC while jumping those terminals.

Fuel Pressure spec at idle is 33-37psi, and WOT is 38-44psi
Are you able to verify fuel pressure? It should not drop on snap throttles.

You can try timing by using a vacuum guage, jumper those pins, at idle, rotate dist till you find max Vacuum before misfiring starts and turn it back about 2 in of vacuum. This will optimally time those old valves.

I agree with Dave, any exhaust backpressure will also cause a lack of power, are you able to pull the O2 and test drive?

Never stop Learning.
