Front disk brake clips rubbing noise was created by autojoe
2008 Chevy trailblazer been battling brake clip rubbing noise. Replaced clips and noise disappeared for a while then comes back. I get under truck and tap with a hammer on inside of caliper and noise is gone. Is there such a thing as better oe brake clips then the autozone duralast clips I have been using? It seems only on left side only rubs turning to the right off center and further. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Joe

Just to make sure, do the caliper bracket clips look like this?

FWIW, I usually find noises on this design of clip come from the center portion of the clip not being fully seated into the caliper bracket. That little bit that centers the clip in the bracket itself. It's happened to me often enough that nowadays I use my pocket screwdriver to seat the clip as far as it'll go.

Some aftermarket clips just don't center well, either, and you end up chasing a clip that's shifting in the bracket. Changing brands may help. I've had good luck with the BrakeBest Select or CarQuest Wearever hardware.

Another note if the rotors weren't replaced the rust can build up on the rotor top and edges and rub the clips

Thanks for reply.... I cleans rust off rotors and back plate. I am leaning towards the clips not seated fully middle of caliper. These clips have been problematic since I bought in 2012. Goes away for awhile after replacing the pads and hardware then returns 6 months later. I am going to check out when weather is cooperating. Thanks Joe
