Hey Inge! Got a diagram for this one?
I always suspect a chaffed wire loam in the door jamb area with any complaint like this.

"Ground cannot be checked with a 10mm socket"

does the passenger window work from its own switch? or your saying the windows work sometimes from the drivers door. I don't think I have ever seen a vw transporter before in the states. maybe just a bad switch. trying to read the wiring diagram but the legend is in another language

Here's a simplified diagram, Inge does this look relevant for your vehicle?

do you have a scanner that can read data pids from the door modules? and perform bi directional testing?? if you command the window down with a scanner and it works then id look for an input issue. if it doesn't work test test power/ground at the module loaded circuit test. ive done it on some jettas and passats never a transporter

The passenger side window sometimes work, when it does it is from both switches. I have loaded the supply circuit and it is ok. Tried scoping the LIN bus but was not sure what I was looking at. Seemed like 12 volts with some noise over it.

Also I have tried with a known good switch. No difference.

Also Steve,

Spot on. Looks right. It is also a BRS engine :)

I'm starting to believe it to be the door modules acting up. The only thing bothering me is the LIN. It does not do what I was expecting.

Any way you can get a shot of your waveform, sir? Just curious to see a screwy LIN waveform

Tyler;

Well I probably could. My scope has difficulties zooming in when the signal is 12 volts. So the resolution is only 1 V\div.
The 12 volt signal goes above the screen, when I adjust it down and zoom out it's not visible if you know what I mean. Hope you do.
Maybe I'm using the scope wrong.

The only noise I can see is that the signal line gets thicker when I turn on the ignition. It might as well just be noise and no evidence of communication. Not sure what kind of voltage change the lin bus operates,

Ah OK, I gotcha, sounds like the scaling on your scope isn't cooperating :( Sorry, sir.

Most LIN messages I've seen look something like this:

To me, it sounds like you're describing noise or a faulty signal, instead of correct communication.

Did some troubleshooting today. And when I disconnect and connect the driver door harness the Lin comes to life and every thing works.

For a long period. If I close the doors, pull in the harnesses nothing happens. There is a computer problem somewhere shutting of the communication.

When it happens nothing in the doors will work except mirror adjustment. Own circuit.

Have added a picture of the scope.
