I am trying to find known good waveforms for cam/crank sensor correlation on a 2005 Ford F150 5.4L. The truck runs good most of the time but intermittently after driving and coming to a stop it will run rough and trigger a P0022 code. Thanks.
This Is the 3v motor correct? These are plagued with cam phaser problems, it almost sounds like a diesel when you stop at a stop sign and you'd swear it had no oil pressure but the gauge says it does... yup that's a cam phaser they can be replaced without removing the timing cover but you have to get a wedge tool to hold the chain in place or you'll be tearing it all apart... also check the solenoid while the valve cover is off sometimes they'll get a chunk of carbon stuck in them but there usually not intermittent like the phaser I'm sure there's a million how 2s on YouTube as well
Totally agree with Ben, it sounds like a bank two timing issue. It can be the phaser (timing gear), solenoid, or a base oil pressure problem. If this were my truck, I'd be tempted to replace the phaser and solenoid at the same time, since the valve cover comes off in both cases. Buying the special tools is a must, don't attempt it without them.
