2008 Jeep Patriot No Nothing. 2.4l with the CVT was created by WisdomWarlord
The car is dead, as if the battery has been removed. But, of course, it's there. It's only got 12.5VDC after sitting all night so there may be another probem to chase afterwards, but for now, I'm 90% sure its the ASD/Main relay. I have seen this a thousand times on Chryslers. My usual fix takes about 15 seconds. Pop the hood, swap the ASD relay for the AC relay and, almost always, joy! But, as best as I can tell, the ASD relay is buried down behind the fender splash shield, and it is possible that the relays are not marked as their function as had been the case on all other cars I have had with this symptom. I'm not keen on getting in there just to find out that "Yup, them thariz is some relays, but taint gone tell ya which one duz whatsfer."
I have access to Chiltons online repair data thru my states library website, but it is useless for relays. As in, it has a section called "Relays and Fuses" which conveniently enough says absolutely nothing about relays. Any of them! smh.
So, can someone help me with 2 questions. One, where is the location of the ASD/Main relay, and would Alldata tell me that where Chiltons has failed me? I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on Chiltons, since I got my moneys worth from them.
Thanks
Keith

Yup, saw that video. But that doesn't tell me which of the 4 relays it is, and if the cover is marked so I can identify which is which. That info should be available in an online repair data resource. Except for Chiltons.....

I mean so dead, so nothing, that if it weren't for the battery being there, and having 12.5v across both the battery posts AND the battery terminals, I would swear to you that there was no battery in the car at all.

If it's that dead, I think it would be worth it to dig it out to at least check the power feed.
Maybe you can see where the negative cable leads from the battery and make sure it is connected to the block/chassis.

Pretty sure I found the problem. I found that I can access the relays in question from above, and very easily I might add. No need to remove the wheel, just open the hood and pull the cover off the relay box. So, I start swapping out relays and listening for life, When I pilled the rearmost relay on the drivers side of the box, I discovered that one of the terminals had corroded clean off and remained in the socked. I pulled the passenger side relay and saw LOTS of corrosion on one terminal as well. So, even if that's not my problem, I've got to get that broken terminal out, remove the corrosion, spray it with WD-40, and replace all 4 relays since they are cheap and good insurance on a 10 year old car. I just hope that box and socket assembly isn't too brittle after all this time. I do NOT want to have to replace the relay box as well!

Yikes! Good luck, hope you can get away without having to replace the whole box!

according to Haynes manual on Jeep Patriot and Compass 2007 thru 2017, the fuse/relay box in question, from 2007 -2013, relay 1 which is the outside front is for radiator fan series, relay 2 (front inside) is radiator fan high, relay 3 (mid outside) is lamp stop relay, relay 4 (mid inside) is the main relay, relay 5 is not used, and relay 6 (rear inside) is radiator fan low.
