immobilizer issue was created by Bouke
Hi,
The car is a Grand Cherokee ZG from 1998, 2,5 diesel, built in Austria.
So one fo the issues is still ongoing is the fact that when we want to start the car, we have to press the fob 3 times (open-close-open) for the immobilizer to allow the car to start (and keep running). This is very ennoying and I am wondering if there is a way to get around this. I read somewhere that this cannot be done by reprogramming (not sure though) but there might be another solution. Read about the purple-with-yellow-stripe wire that should be grounded permanently.... Is this a real option? ( )
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Referenceing the anti theft wire diagram for the American version, the violet/yellow wire is the VTSS disarm circuit for the BCM. It looks like it is designed to be pulled to ground by manually by unlocking either the left front door, right front door or lift gate.
It looks like permanently grounding this circuit would keep the alarm disarmed.
I think that leaving that circuit with a constant input to the bcm could, at least in theory, keep the BCM awake and cause a key off battery draw.
That's just a thoery of course. If others are using this bypass with success, it probably won't be an issue

So, would it be an idea to ground this purple-yellow wire over a relay, activated by a switched '+' after contact? Thus, ones the car is shut off, the relay would prevent this draining...

Yeah, you could do that. Just throwing variables out there.
Honestly for my car, I would just ground the wire, and see how it goes.

Thank you for your input Noah, much appreciated.
So do you know (or anybody else of course) if indeed this is not programmable?
Bit weird that the fob needs to pressed 3 times to be able to start a car.
