Ok so I have a Mazda 6 2012. My car has been sitting for about 2 years now. It was running perfect until I lost my chipped key.. after losing the key I called out a locksmith to reprogram another key for me they were unsuccessful. I had about 2-3 different people come out to try and replace the key and they were also unsuccessful. After about a month I ended up finding the original key, but when I went to start it up it still wouldn’t start. I took my car to Mazda and they couldn’t figure it out. They said I would need to replace the computer which would be about $1200-$1500 and wouldn’t guarantee the fix so I brought my car back home. All of the accessories work fine, but just won’t start. I’m holding it’s something simple. I’ve tested the fuses with an incandescent test light. Most fuses would light up with the key turned on to acc. A couple of them I had to move around for the incandescent light to light up. I was told by some people that it might’ve locked out the immobilizer when they tried to make new keys for it but I’m not sure.
. When I try to start with the original key the security light flashes a certain way, and when I put in the non working key (the one that the locksmith tried programming) it flashes a different way. I know these different sequences of flashing mean something but I’m unsure. Please help. Where do I start.

My suspicion is that your key isn't valid any longer. Somehow the security system is locking you out.
So, what I suggest is using a scan tool and finding the PID that indicates if the security system is enabled/on even when your original key is used.
I would verify that the injectors are pulsing and the plugs are firing. I'm figuring the computer is disabling one of those preventing you from starting.
I'm also assuming your starter is being engaged as well. If it isn't, IMHO, the PCM is locking you out.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking it was locked out some how by a security system as well. Does anyone think that if I convert to a push to start that i will bypass the key security system?

Push start won't help if immobilized. ...
Basically this is a Ford PATS system I believe and you need to program a minimum of 2 keys to make it start...With only one key registered the key programming is incomplet.
