2015 Ducati Diavel with Intermittent misfire was created by Breastfed
Hi
first off let me say I hope I'm not going to be flamed for posting motorbike related issues here
2015 Ducati Diavel 1198cc,
17,000km on the clock, no plugs or leads etc have ever been replaced.
Next scheduled service at 24,000Km >>Valve adj / check + 4 new Plugs.
2 Plugs per Cyl, Coil Pack with leads.
Problem Intermittent misfire on the Front Horizontal Cyl / (BTW the rear Cyl scope looks normal)
For sometime I have noticed very slight irregular beat when the engine is idling (tho she still hauls !)
lately this has gotten worse.
BTW I dont notice anything with regards to any performance related issues at higher loads.
I captured and recorded this Intermittent misfire from the Front cylinder, my thoughts are a secondary ignition issue related to plugs leads or Coil or a lean misfire seem to be the 2 possibilities.
Checking the Injector waveform is far from easy regarding access issues, even swapping Ign coils over is painful, however if its needed then so be it !!
I see the Firing line goes high and then the spark line is all erratic at that moment the missfire can be heard
.
Appreciate any thoughts or comments

Thanks JustJuan
I will try and access the Front Injector and scope both ch's next.
regarding lean misfire .... why does the KV shoot high during this event ? would I be correct in saying that there is no Fuel to help conduct at the spark plug Gap ?
BTW I dont see anything in the snap throttle test.

This video from Paul is very informative:
@3:08 why there's choppiness in the spark line
@4:30 no fuel misfire waveform
@5:30 why that big kV spike at the end? Yup. you're right.
edit: Paul gets this to show up on a snap but you're getting it at idle so I'm not sure about that part.

Thanks JJ
That video I've watched over and over quite a few times
Had a bright Idea to use the Electronic Stethoscope from work , It has a nice long probe that will easily reach the Injector body. While the engine is running I can hear the Pintle Clicking away but hearing that misfire in time with a "no click" is hard to tell the difference especially at 1300 RPM. As far as I could tell it sounded OK IMHO.
Ive since hacked the Headphone jack and wired this to the Scope ... hopefully this will work for a visual representation, I'll try this tonight.
Accessing that Injector is a MAJOR JOB, Tank Covers, Tank, Air Filter box, Coolant & RHS Radiator !!!!

I hooked up the headphone Jack from the Stethoscope and input this to the Scope to get a visual on the Front Inj, Ch1 (no access to probe the rear Inj for a comparison)
The secondary is Ch2,
Hopefully the scope is fast enough to capture the Injector clicking in time with the next Ignition event from A to B
Looking at the pictures it looks like the Injector is functioning OK, I can also hear a solid click with the headphones on.
pic 7... to the left of the High KV line it looks like the Injector is OK compared to the others in the Parade , however after the high KV line the spark line just fades away to the next event ....
I just know I need to back probe this Injector !!!
any thoughts

Have you pulled and inspected plug burn? A lean plug will likely show hot (white) , does it have a programmer? Does it have 02 sensor?
