I first did a visual inspection ,no signs of any coolant leaks.Pressure tested cooling system .no leaks found .I waited for engine to cool down for about 4 hours. At this point i added coolant to system.Started vehicle up and and checked to see if engine cooling fan would come ,like it is suppose to when engine gets hot enough.no fan operation at all.checked for even tempatures on upper and lower radiator hose all good.Tryed turning a/c on maxs to see if condenser fan would come on .no operation of condenser fan.checked fuses and basic stuff related to cooling fan circuits.all good.tapped back side of fan motor and fans started to operate and then quit.
At this point i decide to replace the complete fan assy which comes with .both fans and module .replaced complete unit and restarted vehicle.fan started to work when a/c was turned on .but after about 2 minutes fan would cut out.if i turned a/c off and turned it back on same issue would happen fans work for 2 min and then cut out.
Now as far as the radiator fan is concern .it comes on like it suppose to ,but it cuts out.it does not stay on long enough and the vehicle still ends up overheating
id put a test light or volt meter at the fan connectors when it cuts out and see if you are losing power. can you read engine coolant data/ ac pressure data on the scanner your using?? id load test pins 1 and 2 at the fan control module with a headlamp tp make sure your not losing a ground or power. if you have a scope you can check pin 4 at the module and look for pcm control. any codes?? maybe a software reflash??
