My shop replaced the engine for a 2017 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 with a rebuilt Jasper with AFM delete. The truck is now storing a code P0340 and P0341 for the CMP sensor. I checked for 5V reference, ground, and scoped the signal. The ref circuit checked good and the ground checked good with a test light. The scope image of the signal circuit showed a shark fin waveform switching from 3V to ground with no drop outs. I swapped the CMP with an OEM sensor and I'm getting the same code and same scope image. Is it possible to have a tone wheel issue with the CMP causing the funky shark fin waveform instead of a clean square wave? Possibly the timing cover isn't aligned properly causing an air gap issue? Has anyone else ran into this?
