Hello all,

I have a 2006 Scion TC that the battery went out and had some leaking acid. Went the vehicle came to me the battery light in the dash was on, check battery and did not hold charge so I replaced it with a new one. After replacing the battery, the light was still on and check voltage with the vehicle running at idle and it was around 12.3V, after turning all accessories on to check the charging system the voltage was around 11.5 at idle. Turned all accessories back off and went back to around 12.3V again at idle, check the main cable from battery to alternator and it was about 12.3V, check the ground casing and was about .001V so its ground is good and power is also good all these with vehicle running. the connector at the back of alternator on two wires vehicle running has around 12v or system voltage on a red and a white wire, there is a pink wire but saw close to .003v . I checked all fuses and are good, i pulled a wire diagram from BBB industries but the color code is different from the vehicle, can someone share an alldata or mitchell diagram?
On one of the three wires it shows a fuse from the ignition switch which then goes to what i think is a resistor, from there, should it be 12 or 0V ? Again the wires at the connector are White 12V, Red 12V, Pink 0V, i want to make sure this is correct before replacing the alternator which I'm suspecting is bad. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Josh

Monde is the man. B)

joshuamal, thanks for posting your testing results! Just to clarify, were those readings taken with the connector plugged in? If so, you're good to replace the alternator. :cheer: The only other thing I'd suggest just for verification is to disconnect the alternator and make sure the charge light goes out. If it does, you know there's no short to ground on the pink wire.
