2011 GMC Terrain Cam Crank Correlation. Looking for Known Good was created by graywave
Hi Guys,
2011 GMC Terrain 2.4L
DTC: P0010 & P0011
Been having a hard time finding a waveform that shows the same characteristics as the one I got. I did find a 2011 waveform but it was a "running" waveform and I didn't have time I grab a running waveform. Though I think cranking and warm idle should be the same since there is no advancing. I also think there is a difference between 2010 and 2011 correlation characteristics in terms of the "spacing" between teeth on the intake cam vs exhaust cam.
Basically wondering if anyone happens to have a Cranking waveform for 2011 GM 2.4L
The issue could very well be a clogged actuator though I didn't see any differences between Desired and Actual Cam advances on either intake or exhaust at anytime. I remember these codes popping up on another GMC and it was timing chain related which is why I went this route first. Though the spacing between teeth through me off track.
Here are a couple shots I took cranking. (pictures of verus)
Make note of the "spacing" between teeth on the 2 cams. Intake cam GREEN has smaller spaces vs Exhaust cam YELLOW with larger spaces. Crank is blue.
2010 GM 2.4L cam crank correlation waveforms show both cams with same spacing between teeth. iATN Good Assumed Cranking Waveform (after chain replacement)
2011 GM 2.4L cam crank correlation waveform shows difference in teeth spacing in cams. iATN Good Running Waveform (after chain replacement)

I found out that this engine had a new timing chain and components installed late last year. Appears to have been solenoid issues for this problem.
The cam and crank correlation I posted for this vehicle could be used as "Known Good"
