trying to determine if this electronic sensor is defective. checked all power and grounds, pins 2,3,4, and they all looked good. Have 4.97v reference. that looks good. but when I tried to use the meter as paul taught me, using it as a jumper wire with a screen, I cannot get the egr valve to click. the settings for the meter was red lead to amps and black grounded to -battery terminal. when I did this test, nothing happened. Can anyone assist in determining what procedures I failed to do? thanks everyone.

pin out is as follows:

1- egr solenoid signal = 3.51 that's the reading I'm receiving. I'm not sure if this wire is suppose to give me 12 volts. dark blue -light green

2- 5V supply= that's good. pink-yellow

3- sensor ground= that's good - dark blue/dark green

4- ground= that's good. - black/dark blue

5- empty

6- egr solenoid control - dark blue/violet.

thanks again.

do you have a bi directional scanner? if not you could remove the sensor backprobe the signal wire and move the pintle with a screwdriver and look for a change... if it doent change replace it

The egr on this minivan is a pain in the rear. To remove. Any other test you suggest to do?

Believe it or not I do not have the capability to control the EGR to open it or to close it for some reason my Motdis doesn’t provide that feature I could only go and do DC and resistance tests only What I do not understand is when I jumped the EGR with my multimeter like Paul did in a video I did not get any 12 V reading Thanks for your help

Back probe Terminal 4 EGR control. Should read .5 volts at idle. Juice engine to about 2000 rpm. You should read about 12vdc

my pin out taken out of my modis told me that pin out for erg solenoid control is #6 dark blue/violet
#4 is my regular ground, black/dark blue

once I juice engine to 2000 rpm, if I don't see 12vdc, then I can condemn the erg?

thanks for the response. I'll let you know of my findings.

I'm looking in Mitchell and it's telling me Pin 4 however the colors are correct. Dark Blue/Violet. I would do a resistance test on the solenoid before I would pull the trigger and call it bad. Pull the connector off and measure between the solenoid. Pin 4 & 6. You should read about 25 - 45 ohms according to Mitchell.
