Hello Everyone...
I have recently bought a Passenger Van. that has been having a Stall problem, or at least I HAVE BEEN
. I've narrowed the problem down to loose PCM pin connectors. This van has Three 32 pin connectors, the center White pin connector is my main problem. The previous
owner had changed the PCM. I DO NOT know what his original problem was
He said he has recently replaced the PCM with a rebuilt unit from O'reilly Auto Parts, He apparently hadn't had the van that long either, it only has 97,000 miles on it. the owner before him may have broken that connector, who knows
Anyway, don't know how many PCM's have been thrown at it or for what reason. The White connector, the clips that hold it seated in place on the PCM housng, are broken off of this connector. The Black connector may be problematic also, Not sure about it yet. wiggle test
on Black connector isn't conclusive at this point.
My question at this time is
What type of Pin Extractor do i need to purchase to remove these PINS from the bad connectors ? Any idea what style/type/model of extractor i need for this 2001 Dodge Ram passenger wagon van PCM ?
Thanks... Paul......

This PCM uses the round pin style in the connectors, right? If so, then this page might be useful for disassembling the connectors:

I own the Steelman brand of connector tool set, which has been fantastic. Definitely worthwhile if you may end up doing surgery on other connectors in the future.

Hi Tyler,
thanks for the information! I ordered that steelman kit. i also
ordered the following.
www.toolsource.com/terminal-tools-c-1321...-4pack-p-132779.html
I received my replacement connectors Friday, from a auto recycler. which was a set with about a foot pigtail on each. I was able to get these apart without damage. wires i just pushed into and out of front of connector. Of coarse i can not do that with the connectors on the Van. Anyway, with the 2 purchases, i should have to tools needed to get existing pins out without damage.
Hopefully, after done, this will take care of my Stalling issue
Thanks Very Much for the information! Paul....

Hi Tyler,
Apparently have more problems then loose connectors, I tried the zip-tie trick to see it would hold it in place, and see what would happen. Test failed, didn't even make it out of my yard
Will have to look into the Auto Shut Down relay, and also the Transmission
Control Relay, For some reason both of these are at roughly 115 Degees F. with it just sitting in the drive running idling.
after it died on me for short test drive today, cluster gave me 920, 920, 940, 999. Speed sensor, distance travel, and airbag lamp on message not received.
I'll check out the wiring diagrams for those relays later, tonight is my Monday for work, its about bed time
I purchased all the Service manuals i could find for this Van. I will figure it out eventually, it will probably take me a while. Have the manuals already. I don't give up easily
too much money already invested in this van to give up now
have a good one.... Paul.....
