Vauxhall/Opel Corsa D ABS module was created by jeoff82
About to condemn a ABS unit on one of these, both front wheel speed sensor codes, CAN line codes for ABS, cant remember the exact codes. ABS light on and speedo does not work. Checked all power and grounds at module and all ok. Checked all wheel speed sensor wires at module. Rear sensors have 12v on one wire and between 0.5-1v on the signal when you move the car. The front speed sensor wires have 0-0.2v at the module with or without the sensors plugged in on all 4 wires. I unplugged both ends of front sensors and checked for a short to ground with positive test light and it does not illuminate on any wire. Tried cycling the key a few times, disconnected battery but no voltage found from module to front speed sensors at all. This is leading me to think the module is faulty. Is there any other check you would do before condemning the unit? Thanks

Having a look at this first thing this morning after sleeping on it I tried another couple of checks. First I cleared the ABS codes then cycled the ignition while watching for voltage at the ABS module on the front wheel speed sensor wires. Battery voltage appeared for a split second then disappeared. I then started to ohm check the individual wires from the module to the speed sensors and 2 were showing infinite resistance. It was now apparent that I had opens in the wires somewhere so I started to look for them. After 15 mins I found 8 chewed and broken wires under the scuttle panel at either end! No module needed!

With active ABS sensors a lot of ABS modules do a start up check on the sensor circuit by sending a short burst of voltage to check the sensor resistance and wiring continuity. If the sensor or wiring fails this test the voltage is immediately shut down to protect the ABS module. If key on you don't see at least 10v on one of the wires to the sensor it is likely the system has shutdown the supply to the sensor.
Only ever use OEM sensors aftermarket sensors often fail the startup test.
