TOYOTA AVALON 2000 IMZ - WON'T IDLE AND WON'T REV OVER 2000RPM -NEED HELP
TOYOTA AVALON 2000 V6 IMZ ENGINE - COME FROM OTHER WORKSHOP AS THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, THEY HAVE DONE T/BELT AND WATER PUMP AND WAS SITTING THERE FOR OVER 6 MONTHS.
TIMING BELT WAS ONE TEETH OFF, CORRECTED AND CHECKED COMPRESSION FOUND AROUND 170PSI, CHECKED FUEL PRESSURE OVER 50 PSI, CAN FORCED TO START AND HEAR SLIGHT BACKFIRE, BUT RUNS FINE AROUND 1500 RPM BUT CUT OFF AT OVER 200O RPM. NO DTC LOGGED, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AND AIR FLOW METER FROM A RUNNING CAR RESULT THE SAME. FEELS LIKE FIRING ON THE WRONG CYLINDER IS IT 180 OUT? HIGHLY UNTHINKABLE 180 OUT WHILE REPLACING THE TIMING BELT.
CHECKED CRANK SIGNAL ON A SCANNER AND ITS ERRATIC, CAN HOLD THE RPM AROUND 1500 AND FEELS RUNNING STEADY AND FINE BUT ON THE SCANNER IT SHOWS GOING UP AND DOWN AS WELL AS WHEN GRAPH THE SIGNAL
NEEDS HELP PLEASE.
problem solved, as I mentioned the on the G-scanner even though the engine seems running at steady rpm, rev counter goes up and down rapidly, and when rpm signal graph you know it is not looking right. So we removed the timing belt ones more and checked at the crank wheel where we found a broken tooth at the reluctant wheel. Thanks for your replies guys.
