David56 wrote: Ok I bought a 2004 cadillac Seville. Ran very good for 3 days. I pull in to shopping center car cuts off. I try to restart with no luck. Now next day car wont do anything. Check battery 12.6. Check up front at fuse box 12.6. Check all fuses fine. Buy a new starter because the one in it with my unionbox does nothing. Now I am sure its a ground. Dash lights up airbags working. Everything seems in order. Car does nothing. Can you help an old man out here. Thanks. Dave

David,
You should of started a new topic. Maybe an admin will do it for you.
Here is a wiring diagram for your starter circuit:
www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/Wd/DownloadPdf?id=79834
From your description it sounds like you have 2 issues, stalled & will not crank. Is this one of those starters under the intake manifold? If so, I would start at the starter relay & check powers & grounds. The starter should have constant power to the large cable, switched power to the small wire & be grounded to the engine/trans. Check the I/O's to the relay & let us know what you are missing.
Lets get the engine cranking, then move on to the stalling.
Good luck ...

David56 wrote: Ok . Passed I went out today to fine my problem. Placing my hand on the fusebox in the back. It was hot. So I opened it and I think I found the source. Turns out my number 58 relay was very hot. Unplug the relay but when I put it back it started snapping. Then I could here things coming on. Seconds later I heard a pop and everything shut down. That's were I am. Thanks. Dave

Lighter. Really. This isn't my first. I am 63 but I worked on these northstars when no one would. Been a while. The poping noise stopped everything. Nothing works not even dashpole71 wrote: Can you tell us what, or where specifically, Relay 58 is?
Noise sounded like it came from trunk. Thanks

Do you have power on any of the fuses in the fuse block under the rear seat?

When you say "black on them", are you referring to a stripe? Or, do the have black on them because they have been burnt?
What about the Underhood Fuse Block? Is there any power there? If not, what about the battery?

Don't be too hard on yourself.David56 wrote: Dave56. The dummy with the cadillac Seville. 2004 Northstar.
I think the PCM is under the air cleaner box in it's own compartment.
I moved this question to your own existing thread. Keeping all your questions and tests performed in one thread helps others follow the flow of your diagnosis and keeps the forums from getting cluttered.
