shop put a motor in this car keeps setting p0171. smoked intake didnt find any leaks. in freeze frame it shows short term fuel trim at 44% and long term at 19%. at 50 mph they reused the fuel rail that came with the junkyard engine. question is does anybody know how much the fuel injector balance test on these pressure drops using an otc balance tool?? i dont want to say swap the fuel rail and not fix it. i will perform a volumetric efficienct test on the maf and get back to you.has anyone seen a purge valve stick on these intermittently might try blocking that port off at the intake and redrive. any help appreciated

Can't say I've done any balance tests on the 2.4L.
Obviously an imbalance is an issue, but I think you're more concerned about having the wrong injectors installed, right? I recall that some California 2.4's had a butterfly system in their intakes that could cause this, but I think 2003 is too early for that. Plus, the wiring diagram says nothing about it.
Let us know what the VE test says? Load at WOT would be good, too. In this case, I'd expect Load to peak at 85% or so, just as a characteristic of these cars. :silly: If you go for fuel pressure before pulling the rail, maybe check for E85 in the tank? That'd definitely make it run lean.

85% load? or 85% volumetric efficiency? also it didnt want to idle it idled at 400 rpm until i cleaned the throttle body now thats fixed.... good point on the e85. might do a wynns fuel flush on it.

85% Load, but I suppose 85% VE would probably be OK, too.
Dirty throttle, used the junkyard rail... Seems like this install didn't go well. :silly:
