I'm just speculating here but i think it's because the camshaft turns 2x slower in relation to crankshaft and when the counter reaches a limit (200 or 255 not sure), it restarts at zero. The current camshaft position probably looks smoother because it turns the slowest, while the current crankshaft position "waveform" looks jagged because the computer couldn't spit out enough points to to make the graph look smooth as your scanner connected the dots to make that graph. Perhaps if you graphed the current crankshaft position pid solely the picture would improve.
