2001 BMW X5 COOLANT MIXING WITH OIL! was created by Mikeyb742
HELLO. WORKING ON 2001 BMW X5 3.0 MANUAL TRANS. NO OIL COOLER THAT I CAN SEE NOR FIND. EVEN CHECKED WITH THE OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET. SUSPECTING HEAD GASKET DUE TO THE FACT THERES NO TRANS OR OIL COOLER ACCORDING TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP. WONDERING IF WATERPUMP COULD BE MIXING THROUGH A GASKET ON THE TIMING COVER INTERNALLY POSSIBLY??. NOT TOO FAMILIAR WITH THESE ENGINES. COMPLAINT WAS NO HEAT AND FOUND THE MILSHAKE THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND COOLING SYSTEM. THANK YALL SO MUCH FOR THE INPUT...

I also am not very familiar with BMW engine design, however I think a leaking water pump, if it could leak coolant into the oil, would only fill the oil pan with milkshake, it wouldn't allow oil to enter the radiator.
I think oil cooler as you suspected, or head gasket to be much more likely.
