99 Toyota 4 Runner no spark was created by Bigfoote13
Greetings. On this Toyota I have no spark. I get an RPM signal on my scan tool but no signal to the RPM gauge and cam sensor continuity checks out okay. I had spark once for a little bit but then no longer. I have 12 volts to the coils but don't seem to get any signal to the crank sensor. Is the crank sensor connector on these motors on top of the motor behind the timing belt cover and goes down in the front behind the timing belt to the crankshaft sensor?

Waste spark system with 2 Wire coils. You should have power to the coils with the key on (same color wires). Different color wires controlled by igniter, controlled by PCM. Should be able to check with a test light.

Let us know what your missing & we will go from there.

Do you have a test light, multi meter or scope? Just so we know how to advise you.

Yes I do all of the above. And the igniters in the coils isn't it? No that would be in the PCM? Thank you for your advice.

Your response confuses me.

Is your engine the 5VZ-FE or the 3RZ-FE? I didn't realize the wiring diagram covered 2 different systems.

So you have 3, 2-wire coils?
