I have a fo1994 ford ranger extcab 4wd with 4.0 in it that is a no start. It will run if u put ether in the intake and will keep running as long as u keep putting it in the intake and will rev up also. as soon as u quit puting ether in the intake it quits. changed fuel pump and several other parts. the fuel injector plug both wires are 12v and i think that is the problem. any sugestions on what to do? my email is billyjoenickell@gmail.com or if u wnt my cell i can give that also for easy communication.
Thank you Bill

They are both going to be 12 volts when the engine isn't running. The injectors are powered from a fuse then the pcm grounds the control wire. The 12 volts will go through the injector if there isn't a ground on the other wire. Check the control wire while cranking, but don't use a dvom because they aren't fast enough to catch the ground signal.

The TAN and WHT wires are the control and should pulse a ground while Cranking. The red wires are constant power.

As bruce.oliver stated, the control wires will show power UNTIL the PCM pulses a ground.

You can use a test light connected to BATT + on the control side of the injector to check and see if you are getting a pulsed ground while cranking. If you use an incandescent test light, the bulb will not light up very bright, it may be very dim but you should see it pulse. If you use an LED test light it will be much bright and still pulse. If there is no ground pulse, check for good crank sensor and cam sensor signals

Confirm what it's not, and fix what it is!

I have a 2006 explorer XLT 4.0 with no injector pulse plenty of spark and fuel, cranks but will not start. Start fluid ineffective. What should I check next?

Mechanical timing may be off, the timing chains on that engine are notoriously difficult. If the problem persists and you still need help, please make your own post regarding the issue.
