Hey all,
I'm hoping you can help me save my sanity and also fix my vehicle.
Its a '98 model Lada Niva which is a 1.7L 4 cylinder engine, it runs a GM TBI (single injector) system.
The basic problem is that it hold the RPM high (around 2000) when changing gears, instead of dropping down when you release the throttle. It continues to hold it up if you come to a total stop and then gradually it returns to normal after 5-10 seconds.
This problem is worse when cold.
Along with this the idle is unsteady and it seems to have a miss. The exhaust also seems "moist" on occasion but im not losing any coolant.
This makes it a pain to drive, is probably ruining my clutch and also makes me look like an idiot while I sit at the intersection with the motor revving its tits off...
I have done a LOT of troubleshooting on this issue, so I wont list out everything I have tried. Hoping to work through this in a logical fashion with you folks.
Cheers
Ash
