This car runs poorly. -20 total fuel trim at idle. HC in exhaust 500 ppm.

It burns oil. Is it possible that the oil causes this or leaking injectors?

The car is often very hard to start. Long crank time. It has misses on low rpms.

Hey Inge!

Hmmm I'd go for the fuel :) Considering the lean command when looking at your trims, high HC, and hard to start...

Did you check anything on the fuel system? Pressure drops caused by leaking injector? Misfires? Just asking to know where we can chime in...

No schraeder valve.

I think this is a returnless system. Going to investigate closer tomorrow.

Maybe fuel in the oil also?

It runs great while driving. But very heavy idle.
How can i check the injectors?

This is a map system by the way.

It drinks oil. At least 5 litres a year.

Ok. I'd check if there's a PID in your datalist that shows fuel pressure.

Any chance you can do an injector balance test?

5 litres a year. And how many kilometers?

I forgot to ask. You mentioned your fuel trims at idle. How do they look while driving?

We don't have the injector balance testing tool. If that is the one that activates the injectors for an amount of time and you then read pressure before and after.

I will look for the pid.

I reset the kam memory. When I rev it to about 2500 rpm it stops compensating and goes into open loop fault. It stays rich all the way. HC decrease a bit but when i let go of the gas pedal it roofs at about 1400 ppm.

White smoke behind. With a little blue when revving higher.

Have not monitored while driving.

Have a few questions.

Could the pcv system cause this. How and why.?

If there is fuel in the oil, would it be sufficient to cause this much HC in the exhaust.

The problem seems to be worse when the engine is warm.

My money is on the injectors leaking, but don't know how to test them without the balance tester and no schraeder valve.

If you can get a fuel presure tester on ( normal kit should have an adaptor)to eliminate leaking injector. How are fuel trims on different rpm? What are the o2 readings? What is your maf readings?

Did you check PCV system Inge?

About the fuel pressure. No data PID for this?

Yeah I know, Schraeder valve should be mandatory ;-)

Don't know if your pressure gauge has adaptors, so you can put your gauge on fuel lines...

What is your maf readings?

It's a MAP engine Sergei :) No problem

Do you smell gas from the exhaust, considering the rich condition, white smoke....

Well,

The pcv canister is behind the intake manifold. Don't know how to access it without removing it.

The car is with the owner for the moment.

It smells gas and smokes white.

At first cold startup it seems fine. 02s show rich lean at about 1/2 hz freq.

But as it warms up the trims gets maxed out negative and the o2s stays at around 0.8- 0.9

This is at all rpms.

Have ordered injector balance activation tool and injector cleaner. Hopefully I will get to measure fuel pressure.

What map readings should I have at idle? Maybe I could test the pcv that way?

Thanks.
