I am new as well. Maybe you can answer a question. 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2. I have examined various circuits for good ground, continuity and parasitic draw tests, because my Jeep is afflicted with a common problem of a dead battery after sitting for a little more than 24 hours. One odd issue that popped up once was (erratic gauges, locking/unlocking doors, radio turning on and off). The vehicle eventually shut down and was towed. Another time, the theft alarm went off, despite opening the vehicle with the correct remote and key
Since things seem to be pointing to a bad BCM, is the DRB III the only tool that can re-program a remanufactured BCM ( I would like to keep the mileage and VIN correct and not a any discrepancies)? Is there another way to do this with another tool? CAn the BCM even be reprogrammed to the correct mileage and VIN (a few places I have researched say no and others say yes. The factory service manual only mentions the DRB III, of course. Thanks in advance.

No more need for the DEALER. I have even had other shops call me to do their programming.
