Hi guys

I am running a one man DIY shop and I am brand new to these cars and I need your help. I have posted on two other forums (one for Fords and Mazda) but no one has replied to me as of yet . I am hoping that someone helps me from this forum.

Car make Ford
Model: Telstar 2.5L KL engine, V6, TX5
Shape: Sedan
Condition: no start

I have a South African version of the Ford Telstar TX5 (AY) (KL engine, VIN: AAFMF44AR649541) v6, 24 valve here which had a ATX gearbox and was converted into a manual transmission after the AXT gearbox gave problems. After the manual gearbox was installed, the car never started again. It has been taken to a couple of mechanics before being towed to me.

I need the wiring schematic for A/T and manual transmission that matches these one or both of these colour code:

Crank sensor: GRN, BLU, BLK/RD
MAF: RD, BRN/YEL, BLK/RD, BLU/BLK, YEL/RD
THROTTLE: BLUE/BLK, BRN, YEL, BRN/YEL

Distributor:
Big connector: RD/BLK, BLK/RD (THICK WIRE), OR, PNK, BLK, YEL/BLK
Small connector: YEL, YEL/BLU, BLK/WHT

Also, how about the immobiliser? Please help!!

I can supply more pictures if needed.

Please fellows, help. I am willing to donate whatever... I have written to many forums but no one answered.

Sizwe, welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, finding wiring diagram for your Telstar is gonna be tough. The Telstar wasn't sold in North America, as far as I can tell. Wikipedia indicates it's based on the same platform as the Mazda 626?

Running with that, I picked a 1996 Mazda 626 2.5L as an example and found the OE engine performance wiring diagrams on Charm.Li. Some of the wire colors you mentioned are there, some are not.

charm.li/Mazda/1996/626%20V6-2496cc%202....%20Control%20System/

Even though the wire colors may not match up exactly, you might still be able to use the diagrams to get the information you need. There's also tons more info on Charm.Li if you need it.

As far as your no start goes, what are you missing? Spark, fuel, compression? Does the MIL work? Are there any relevant fault codes?

I cannot express my gratitude but man. Thank you. I am about to begin the job soon. I have confidence in what I am going to do.

As far as missing spark or not, I did not even bother to check.

I will look for the TCM pinout. Any heads up on the immobiliser? What should I look out for when tackle this job?

I will keep you guys posted. Again, this Charm.Li is a good mine I tell you!!

I don't know that Ford/Mazda products of that generation have much in the way of immobilizers. Keyless entry, sure, but no real immobilizer that I know of.
