I have a Toyota Vitz with a 1.0L 1KR-FE engine. The issue I'm experiencing is that the first crank at a warm engine takes longer, typically 3-4 cranks, before the car starts. However, if I turn off the engine and restart it immediately, it cranks fine. There's no problem at all when starting from a cold engine.
To clarify, here’s the scenario: If I drive from Point A to Point B (about 6-7 km), then turn off the engine at Point B and restart it within a few minutes or right away, it starts normally. But if I try to start the car after 20-30 minutes, the first crank is always longer, taking 3-4 cranks to start. On the other hand, if the car sits at Point B for 4-5 hours before starting, it works fine.
I've already replaced the coolant temperature sensor and accidentally installed the wrong fuel pump model, which has 58 psi instead of the required 48 psi. I also checked the crank sensor by replacing it. Additionally, the EGR valve is leaking—when I smoke test from the intake side, smoke escapes from the top of the EGR, although it's fine on the exhaust side (I confirmed this by removing it).
