Our '97 Toyota Rav4 is our "knock around town" car. Occasionally/infrequently, when starting from a stop sign or light when the clutch action is not as smooth as it should be and the engine lugs a bit or maybe stumbles, a P0301 will set. The plugs were replace recently, not because of this issue but more because of it being a scheduled maintanance item. The engine had a complete overhaul may 50,000 miles ago but my memory fails me regarding if the plug wires and what other ignition parts were replaced. If I had to guess, I would say I replaced most, if not everything, in the ignition system using OEM parts.

The car is very drivable. But once in awhile when the driver forgets it's not an automatic, it will set a P0301.  Any thoughts?
