Hello I watch some of your yourtube videos I have a question I connected my gages and vacuum to my trucks ac and waited 30 minutes and then turned the pump off and forgot to shut off the valves and when I came back to check it I saw oil in the little window I think it sucked oil from the pump in to the ac when I stopped the pump the guage was at about -27 I turned the pump back on hoping it would suck the oil out my question is do you think the pump will suck all the oil out and if not will it cause issues with the ac? I have a 2008 chevy Silverado 2500 HD 2 doorÂ
There is potential for loss of refrigerant oil during the evacuation process. Which usually it is negligible; however, if you used UV dye to find a leak that will more than make up for the small amount lost on evacuating the system.
It would be difficult at best to remove all the oil from the system using the vacuum pump.
More likely impossible.
When using the recovery machine, any oil removed is collected on a graduated container so you can replace whatever came out, usually very little.
As noted above by hardtopdr2, adding just a bit of UV dye/PAG oil will be more than enough to replace what you lost...
And honestly, before the recovery machine, hundreds of cars have gone out with no more oil added to the system after an evac and refill.
