Power loss after extended idling. was created by josephmiz
2001 Ford F450 with 6.8 V-10.
No engine codes.
Fuel pressure at specs.
Short term fuel trims normal.
O2 voltages normal.
Map gm/sec normal.
Approx. 110,000 miles

My question. This vehicle is a lineman bucket truck that probably has more time idling that actual road miles. Is it possible that extended idling can cause drivability issues? Sometimes after idling for several hours or more and when leaving the jobsite, the truck seems it has a loss of power at times. It is sporadic at times.
Thanks.

There isn't much to go on here but to answer you question, no. Idling the engine should not hurt it.
