Hello my name is James I am trying to help a friend he swapped a 2003 4.3 that has two fuel lines to a 2007 4.3 that has 1 fuel line what does he need to change to make truck run? I'm thinking fuel rail and possible intake.
When interchanging engines from different years/generations etc., it is commonly accepted that the technician will use, from the engine that came out of the car, the intake manifold, fuel rail and injectors, engine harness at minimum, and be prepared to change the oil pan, valve covers, flywheel, engine mounts, accessory brackets or timing cover as needed.
I always start with both engines on the floor and don't install the new engine until it has all the necessary parts transferred over from the old engine.
