Are all the harmonic balancers the same on the 1996 Ford  F150 4.9 engine? When setting a timing light to the balancer do you move the distributor to move the light to center of the V groove or which marks are used as i have seen some with a V groove metal plate and then casting in the cover for the alighments. I understand that if use the 10 degree dial indicator set to 10 degree then i should see the V groove alingned to the TDC mark on the balancer and if a standard non adjustable light then the V groove should be aligned with the 10 degree mark on the balancer? I previoulsly set a new distributor into the engine and revved up the rpms on high not real high but high and leveled out the sound evenly and left it. It ran very well doing that. I never used the light.
